Tinsley’s paintings and sculptures explore the ever-changing nature of relationships. Inspired by bonds with her children and with her mother, who suffered from dementia, the artist’s work often conveys the layered emotional experience of caring for others. Feelings of love, despair, longing, disbelief, loneliness, and hope become subjects (and characters) in Tinsley’s vibrant and unpredictable landscapes. Steeped in both tenderness and dark humor, the artist’s work intends to add to discussions around motherhood, caregiving, and how it feels to love and be loved.
