The Museum of Arts and Sciences (MAS) presents its EMERGING NATIONAL exhibition featuring artists Jeanette Cole, Scott Eakin, Joseph Guay, and Mario Petrirena.

MACON, Ga., March 3, 2022 -- The Museum of Arts and Sciences (MAS) presents its EMERGING NATIONAL group exhibition running through May 28, 2022, with a special “Night with the Artists” reception on March 10th. Featured artists Jeanette Cole, Scott Eakin, Joseph Guay, and Mario Petrirena display works ranging from large-scale paintings and mixed media installations to ceramic sculpture.

Now in its 10th year, the project has showcased 55 professional contemporary visual artists, representing some of the nation’s finest undergraduate and graduate art programs. With support from the Knight Foundation, the MAS has developed the invitational into a coveted and valuable experience for professional artists. Because many of the featured artists from past years are achieving national recognition, EMERGING NATIONAL continues to increase in prominence within the art community. The project not only advances the careers of the South’s most promising emerging professional artists but also influences the collecting of local patrons and engages the community in powerful discussions about visual artistic expression.

2022 featured artists include Jeanette Cole (Virginia), Scott Eakin (Georgia), Joseph Guay (Georgia), and Mario Petrirena (Georgia) – all of whom have exhibited widely and are emerging on a national scale.

Cole has exhibited her vibrant paintings in 32 solo exhibitions at colleges and galleries across the US and regularly in group exhibitions for 40 years. The ceramic work of Petrirena is held in the collections of the High Museum of Art and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Guay’s thought-provoking mixed media work also is included in the High Museum’s collection as well as prominent private collections including that of Sir Elton John. Abstract painter Eakin has been the recipient of several awards including the 2019 Jurors’ Award at the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia (MOCA) Gathered Exhibition.

The EMERGING NATIONAL X exhibition is available for public viewing during regular business hours, Tuesday-Saturday 10AM-5PM.

A Night with the Artists will occur Thursday, March 10th from 7-10PM. Artists will be present to represent their work and hold gallery discussions, and guests will have the opportunity to purchase artwork. Tickets for the cocktail reception can be purchased by calling the Museum at (478) 477-3232 or on Eventbrite.com for $50 each. Ticket price includes access to the Emerging National X exhibition, conversation with the artists, open bar, hors d'oeuvres catered by Fountain of Juice, and an artisanal bourbon tasting.
